United delivers for misfiring Mourinho The Special One left a special note in the pre-match program at Old Trafford to make amends with Red Devils fans after going down heavily to Chelsea. And after Juan Mata secured derby success, the manager was at it again on the pitch. As the final whistle blew, Mourinho gestured ‘4-0’ to the home faithful. He followed that up with a bow of the head and by clasping his hands in prayers, a further act of contrition....

Two defeats in four matches have left United drifting in 10th and prompted discussion over whether Mourinho can add to his three Premier League titles. Terry captained Chelsea to each of those triumphs and is confident the 55-year-old is capable of further glory. However, the ex-England defender believes Mourinho must first find “personalities” like Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba to set the standard. “At every club he has had big characters and I’m not sure he has that at Manchester United at the moment....

The Red Devils may trail Manchester City in the Premier League by 14 points ahead of their match with the Baggies on Sunday, but Pardew believes that the Portuguese’s pragmatic style has allowed him to be the game’s best trophy winner. “Jose and myself would love to win a game 4-0 playing flamboyant football,” the former Newcastle boss said. “You can’t do that, you just have to find a way to win sometimes....

Mourinho has been out of work since December last year, when he was sacked by Manchester United following a run of poor results. The Portuguese coach has this season made regular television appearances as a pundit, widely attracting acclaim for his insight, demeanour and analysis. Lyon sacked Sylvinho on Monday after just one win in his last nine matches at the helm and Aulas had identified Mourinho as a target, though the former Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid boss apparently turned them down on account of having another job lined up....

Rashford hails Mourinho after Hammers win The Red Devils, on the back of a frustrating opening to the campaign, have collected six straight Premier League victories. The most recent of those came away at West Ham on Monday, with the 10-man hosts seen off 2-0 by a thoroughly professional display. Mourinho saw his substitutions work to perfection, with Juan Mata and Marcus Rashford making telling contributions at the London Stadium....

Mourinho’s passions got the better of him right before halftime on a day that was shaping up to be fruitless even at that stage. The United manager’s calls for a penalty stemmed from a Jon Flanagan challenge on Matteo Darmian just inside the Burnley area; it was a long-shot at best but Mourinho cried out in desperation for it to be given. Mourinho’s comments appear to be aimed at Manchester City, who are the subject of an ongoing investigation by European football’s governing body into alleged FFP breaches. In November, German magazine Der Spiegel said the Premier League champions had broken rules that dictate how much money owners can put into a club, having purportedly obtained documents from the whistleblowing outlet Football Leaks. City have dismissed those reports as an “organised and clear” attempt to damage their reputation, while UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said on Tuesday UEFA’s investigation would be concluded shortly....

The France star lasted just a handful of minutes on his debut as Red Devils captain before he was forced out of the action. Man Utd 5/2 to win PL Pogba appeared to sustain a hamstring injury, and was replaced by Marouane Fellaini, who went on to open the scoring in a 3-0 win for the hosts. And while medical reports are yet to determine the severity of the injury suffered on Tuesday, Mourinho was quick to point out other options for the weekend’s Premier League clash should Pogba be ruled out....

Replays indicated Masuaku appeared to spit at Powell and Moyes confirmed after the match the player had acknowledged his indiscipline. “I asked him did he spit? England international Barkley has been linked with a January loan move to the Hammers, who missed out on Gedson Fernandes after he joined rivals Tottenham on Wednesday. Chennai - The MRF Challenge Formula 2000 season finale is poised for an exciting finish with American Conor Daly cruising to victory in the second race Saturday, taking his championship fight against England‘s Jordan King down to the wire. Daly, starting at the front in the reverse grid for the top six in the morning, pulled away from the field to complete a fine win here at the Madras Motor Sports Club track....

The 38-year-old who wrestled for organizations like Ring of Honor, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), and New Japan Pro Wrestling, said in a Twitter post that after experiencing difficultly walking in June he visited doctors who discovered the infection and advised that his legs be immediately amputated. The wrestler, whose real name is James Guffey, lost his left arm to infection in October 2020, which forced him to end his 20-plus year wrestling career, Newsweek reported previously....
