Runner-up to the mighty Thistlecrack in last season’s World Hurdle at Cheltenham, the Mouse Morris-trained six-year-old made a successful start to his chasing career at Thurles in October before beating subsequent winner Westerner Lady in a Grade Three at Cork earlier this month.

Owners Gigginstown House Stud have a plethora of entries in the Drinmore on December 4 and Morris is hoping his stable star will be among the runners.

He said: “He’s in good form and, all going well, I think he’ll go for the Drinmore.

“They (Gigginstown) have some very good novices this year, so it will be hard to keep them all apart.

“But with a bit of luck, I’d say we’ll go to Fairyhouse.”

Alpha Des Obeaux is a general 6-1 shot about winning the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
